At the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a young Bob Dylan shakes up the folk music scene by going electric and playing rock as the voice of a generation – defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th-century music. The scenes were filmed at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, where Bob Dylan made his first public appearance on an electric guitar, and were filmed on the beach in the resort town of Cape May, New Jersey. Minimal compensation was required because the resort is committed to designating it a National Historic Landmark because of its focus on Victorian architecture and other 19th- and 20th-century architectural motifs.
