It tells the story of three very different families competing to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style mansion that they think will solve all their problems. The exterior shots of the house are similar to the same house Mitchell and Cam lived in on Modern Family. It took a while to figure out where everything was going to take place, and it took a while to find the balance between the dark and bleak humor and what ended up being a pretty straightforward whodunnit. It was hard to connect with the characters at first, who were mostly ambiguous or malicious… I could see why some people would watch one episode and tune out. There’s so much to see, so much to drink, so little time… But I think persistence pays off here, but there’s nothing wrong with a little sentimentality at this time of year. I thoroughly enjoyed it. No need to waste time scrolling endlessly — here’s the entire lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
