In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is thrust into a high-profile job she’s ill-suited to, with tectonic consequences for her marriage and political future. see if your favorite show has been canceled. The producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the still-recently reopened American embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Britain allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely bestowed on any film or screen production, especially an American one.

One location that was unavailable was Winfield House, the real-life residence of the American ambassador

Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot of land (11 acres) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes. ). There was a moment, I think, about halfway through season 1 where one of the plots took a slightly different turn than I expected, and that was fine. Otherwise, the dysfunctional relationships—both personal and professional—between the main characters somehow work, and I like that.

Both the characters and the plots work

The writers did a good job of keeping the action tightly focused. Sure, it’s not very believable, but it’s fun and sometimes tense. “Madam Secretary” it isn’t; nor is it “Veep.” And that’s a very good thing. I should also mention that the acting and dialogue are pretty good too.

Are they believable?

The casting was done well. Again, no. But that’s fine. I realized very quickly that this was fantasy, not reality.

Don’t worry

Netflix did a good job on that. I’m really looking forward to season 2.
